Multifocal atrial tachycardia (MAT) is an arrhythmia commonly observed in patients with underlying severe pulmonary or cardiac conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or congestive heart failure. Also known as 'chaotic atrial tachycardia,' this arrhythmia tends to occur particularly in elderly patients with respiratory failure and poor general condition.
