Elevated fibrinogen refers to a condition where fibrinogen levels exceed the normal range of 200-400 mg/dL. This condition increases the risk of blood clot formation, which can damage vital organs such as the heart and brain, thereby leading to a risk of stroke. High fibrinogen levels can also cause an increase in D-dimer levels. Furthermore, elevated fibrinogen may also be observed as a chronic condition in some individuals.
