Endometrial hyperplasia, commonly known as uterine wall thickening, is a condition characterized by the abnormal thickening of the endometrium, the inner lining of the uterus. This thickening occurs when the cells lining the uterine cavity proliferate excessively due to various factors. While often benign, this condition can lead to abnormal uterine bleeding. Importantly, although not cancer itself, endometrial hyperplasia can sometimes be a precursor to uterine cancer, thereby increasing the risk of developing the disease.
