Adenomyosis is a benign gynecological condition characterized by the growth of the tissue that normally lines the uterus (endometrium) into the muscular wall of the uterus (myometrium). This condition can lead to a thickening of the uterine wall, causing prolonged and heavy menstrual bleeding, as well as severe cramping and pain. It typically appears in women during their reproductive years. Although adenomyosis is not a life-threatening disease, the severe bleeding and pain it causes can significantly impact a woman's quality of life.
