For the diagnosis of trigger finger, the doctor first performs a comprehensive physical examination. During this examination, the patient is asked to bend and extend their fingers, and signs of limited movement, pain, or catching are evaluated. Suspected trigger finger arises in individuals who experience difficulty with movements or cannot move their finger at all. If necessary, imaging tests such as ultrasound or X-ray may also be requested to confirm the diagnosis or rule out other conditions.
