The feasibility of performing a colposcopy during pregnancy is a frequently asked question among expectant mothers. Colposcopy is generally a safe medical procedure that can be carried out during pregnancy. However, if a colposcopic biopsy becomes necessary, it requires special attention and expertise. Such procedures must always be performed by experienced gynecologists. During pregnancy, low-grade lesions are typically monitored with an evaluation postponed until after childbirth, while biopsies are recommended for lesions suspected of being cancerous. Comprehensive evaluation of other lesions not suspected of being cancerous is also generally deferred until the postpartum period. Furthermore, endocervical curettage, a procedure performed in non-pregnant patients, is strictly not performed in pregnant individuals.
