Digital mammography is the most successful method in diagnosing breast cancer. However, some masses are not detectable by mammography. It is particularly difficult to see small masses in women with dense breast tissue. For women with this type of breast tissue, ultrasound, and if necessary, MRI, are recommended in addition to mammography.
