Mild local reactions such as redness and itching may occur after measles vaccination; however, these are generally short-lived and do not lead to long-term serious problems. Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) are extremely rare. A second dose should not be administered to individuals who have experienced a severe allergic reaction following the first dose. Furthermore, the vaccine is contraindicated for individuals with a history of severe allergic responses to eggs, such as shortness of breath, laryngeal edema, or fainting. However, individuals with non-severe allergies like hay fever or asthma can generally receive the measles vaccine without concern.
