Breast milk is an indispensable and most valuable source of nutrition for babies. The World Health Organization (WHO) and health organizations recommend exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a baby's life. Following this, it is advised to continue breastfeeding alongside appropriate complementary foods until at least two years of age or longer. Although rare, breast milk may be insufficient in some cases (e.g., if the baby is not gaining enough weight). In such situations, additional formulas or follow-on milks may be used based on the assessment and recommendation of a specialist physician. Especially for infants with pancreatic insufficiency, enzyme replacement therapy is essential to support nutrient absorption while continuing breast milk feeding.
