In the treatment of myocarditis, various medications are used to manage the risk of rhythm disturbances and heart failure associated with heart muscle inflammation. These medications aim to support heart muscle function and prevent the development of rhythm problems. In the presence of edema, diuretics may be prescribed to remove excess fluid from the body and regulate sodium balance. In some patients, the condition may be more severe and require hospitalization. In the hospital, intravenously administered medications reach the heart faster, helping to reduce the load on the heart. Myocarditis treatment is determined individually based on the patient's clinical condition and the degree of heart function. Generally, in mild cases of myocarditis, bed rest and medication are sufficient. However, patients with heart rhythm disturbances or severe heart function impairments should be hospitalized. In very severe cases, advanced treatment methods such as ventricular assist devices or an aortic pump may be applied. If the disease is highly severe, a heart transplant may become an option.
