Bone marrow failure has two main types: "Aplastic anemia" and "Myelodysplastic syndrome".

Myelodysplastic syndrome is a pre-leukemic condition and therefore considered a cancer.

Aplastic anemia, another type of bone marrow failure, can also progress to acute leukemia due to stem cell dysfunction.
