Generally, no special preparation is required before a Cardiac MRI procedure. However, to ensure better adhesion of the electrodes that record heart rhythm and to improve the quality of the examination, it is advisable to shave the chest area before the procedure. If contrast material is planned to be used, a 4-5 hour fasting period is important to minimize the risks of potential nausea, vomiting, or allergic reactions, and to prevent aspiration risk. You may continue taking your regular medications until the day of the examination, unless your doctor advises otherwise. Bringing all your previous cardiac test results and reports will ensure a more comprehensive and holistic assessment.
