Ramsay Hunt Syndrome itself is not contagious. However, the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus (VZV), which causes the syndrome, can lead to chickenpox in individuals who have not previously had chickenpox or been vaccinated against it. Furthermore, this infection can cause serious health problems for individuals with weakened immune systems. Therefore, people with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome should avoid direct physical contact with individuals who have not had chickenpox or been vaccinated, those with compromised immune systems, pregnant women, and newborns until all blisters have completely crusted over.
