As agoraphobia typically develops as a fearful reaction to experiencing panic attacks, its prevention largely focuses on developing strategies to cope with the anxiety related to the possibility of having another panic attack outside the home. Therapeutic approaches used in the treatment of agoraphobia can also be effective in preventing its development. Furthermore, agoraphobia symptoms can be managed through lifestyle changes such as: Avoiding alcohol, drugs, and caffeine; adopting a healthy and balanced diet; engaging in regular exercise; and practicing breathing exercises.
