Adenitis is generally not considered a serious condition. Enlargement of lymph nodes can be a symptom of many different diseases, most of which are infectious in origin. Cases of adenitis related to cancer are quite rare. Generally, if a lymph node is less than one centimeter, it is considered non-specific, and regular follow-up is usually sufficient.
