The time required for a carious lesion treatment varies depending on the type of carious lesion filling procedure deemed suitable by the dentist. There are two ways to perform a carious lesion filling:

**Direct carious lesion treatment**
Direct carious lesion treatment can be completed within the patient's first appointment. Generally, a single-session direct carious lesion filling procedure takes between 30 and 90 minutes.

**Indirect carious lesion treatment**
In cases of advanced tooth infection, the dentist will first perform a tooth cleaning procedure, followed by medication application to the cleaned area. Waiting for approximately one week may be necessary for the medication to take effect and for the infection treatment to be completed. The carious lesion filling procedure is then completed by the dentist in a second appointment following the indirect application.
