Chickenpox infection typically begins to show symptoms 7 to 21 days after exposure to the virus. Rashes usually develop as new lesions for approximately 5 to 7 days. During this period, as the initial lesions begin to crust over, new rashes continue to emerge. The entire process for all rashes to complete scabbing generally takes about two weeks.
