Currently, there is no definitive cure for Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP). Treatment primarily focuses on managing secondary complications, such as cataracts and macular edema, which can be addressed through established medical interventions. Patients are advised to adopt lifestyle modifications, including stress reduction, cessation of smoking, and adherence to general nutritional recommendations. High-dose Vitamin A supplementation may also be considered. While various alternative therapies (e.g., acupuncture, leech therapy, vascular surgeries, and herbal remedies) are often suggested, it is important to note that none of these have scientifically proven efficacy. For patients in advanced stages of the disease, research is actively underway in gene therapies and bionic eye technology. Although current results are preliminary, these areas hold significant promise for future treatments.
