Following PFO closure, patients typically undergo at least 6 hours of bed rest and remain under observation in the hospital for one night, being discharged the following morning. After a few days of rest at home, they can resume their daily routines. For 6 weeks following the procedure, it is important to avoid activities that may cause trauma and contact sports (such as karate, boxing, wrestling, weightlifting). Generally, within 3 to 6 months, the endocardium, the layer of cells lining the inside of the heart, completely covers the closure device, and the device becomes a natural part of the body.
