There is no specific treatment for adenovirus infections. Since most adenovirus infections cause mild symptoms, they generally do not require any special treatment. However, when treatment is needed, doctors may prescribe medications to alleviate symptoms. Patients with uncomplicated infections are typically advised to get bed rest, isolate, practice good hygiene to prevent spread, use over-the-counter fever reducers, and consume plenty of fluids. For conjunctivitis, artificial tear drops may be recommended, and in cases of severe congestion or runny nose, cool mist humidifiers and airway-opening medications might be advised.
