The preparation for this procedure is similar to that of a standard endoscopy. Patients are required to fast for 6 to 8 hours prior. For the procedure, the patient is sedated, mirroring the process for a standard endoscopy. During the endoscopic examination, the esophagus and duodenum are visually inspected for any potential issues. Concurrently, a pH monitoring capsule is endoscopically placed into the esophagus, integrated seamlessly with the existing procedure. This capsule remains attached to the esophageal lining for 24 to 48 hours, after which it naturally detaches. This method is instrumental in diagnosing reflux disease.
