The DNA fragmentation test evaluates the percentage of sperm with damaged DNA using a semen sample. The test is performed on a semen sample collected after 4-5 days of sexual abstinence, and the percentage of sperm containing damaged DNA is quantitatively determined. A minimum number of sperm cells is required to perform this test accurately. A DNA fragmentation rate below 15% is generally considered normal. Rates between 16% and 30% are considered intermediate, while values exceeding 30% indicate severe DNA damage.
