All forms of Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD), including Pick's disease, cause progressive degeneration of the brain. This leads to individuals gradually losing their cognitive and behavioral abilities over time, depending on the affected brain regions. Pick's disease specifically impacts brain areas responsible for behavioral control or those that coordinate speech and comprehension abilities. As the disease progresses, individuals with FTD's capacity for independent living diminishes, and consequently, 24/7 specialized care for patients becomes essential.
