* A history of exposure to the hepatitis virus

* Use of medications known to cause liver damage
* A family history of liver disease
* Obesity
* Diabetes or metabolic syndrome
* Fatty liver disease
Additionally, an AST test may be deemed necessary if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms:
