The eligible age range for platelet donation is 18-60 years. The donation process takes approximately 1.5 hours. Donor candidates must have a platelet count of at least 150,000 and a body weight exceeding 50 kilograms. Aspirin and similar blood-thinning medications must not be used for 48 hours before the procedure. After a whole blood donation, a waiting period of at least 4 weeks is required before platelet apheresis.
