Prior to and during lip filler procedures, a topical anesthetic cream is applied to the lip area to ensure patient comfort. This method is often sufficient to minimize any potential discomfort. However, when more comprehensive anesthesia is required, plastic surgeons can completely numb the regional nerves around the lips using a local anesthetic injection via a technique known as a 'ring block'. With this additional application, the patient experiences no pain throughout the procedure.
