Women experiencing uterine prolapse commonly feel a bulge or a mass extending outwards from the vaginal area. This can manifest as a protrusion caused by the entire uterus or a part of it descending into or out of the vagina. Symptoms can be intermittent; for example, the uterus might descend during situations that increase intra-abdominal pressure, such as heavy lifting or straining, and then retract when the strenuous activity ceases, potentially causing no symptoms for a period. Additionally, issues like urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, and constipation may be observed. Among the most prominent situations where this sensation is felt is during heavy lifting, such as carrying grocery bags, when there is a feeling of "something coming out" of the vagina. The severity and presence of all these mentioned symptoms are directly related to the degree of uterine prolapse.
