Osteoarthritis commonly affects the spine, knees, hips, and feet joints. It is a slowly progressive disease that can lead to intense pain in the affected joints over time. Hip osteoarthritis, in particular, can cause severe pain necessitating medical attention. The most frequently reported complaints include pain, swelling, a grinding sound or creaking sensation in the joint, and burning. These pains can eventually lead to loss or restriction of movement. Additionally, joint sounds during movement can also be a symptom; however, this alone is not sufficient for an osteoarthritis diagnosis. If symptoms are present, it is important to consult a healthcare professional for a definitive diagnosis and an appropriate treatment plan.
