In the diagnosis of bronchiectasis, the patient's history, physical examination findings, and laboratory tests (blood and sputum analyses) establish the initial suspicion. However, high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) is the most important imaging method for definitive diagnosis and determining the extent of the disease. While chest X-rays may show some findings, their diagnostic sufficiency is limited. Pulmonary function tests may also be requested when necessary to assess the patient's respiratory capacity.
