The primary goals in the treatment of Paget's disease are to slow the progression of the disease, normalize bone turnover, and alleviate symptoms. Treatment approaches may include:
1. Pharmacological Treatment (Bisphosphonates): Bisphosphonates are the most commonly used class of drugs in the treatment of Paget's disease. These medications reduce bone breakdown by suppressing overactive bone cells (osteoclasts) and help normalize the bone remodeling cycle. While they do not completely cure the disease, they reduce pain, slow the progression of bone deformities, and lower the risk of neurological complications. These drugs are also bone-resorption inhibitors used in the treatment of osteoporosis.
2. Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation: Physical therapy methods can be applied to manage pain, maintain joint mobility, and improve muscle strength and coordination. Modalities such as therapeutic exercises, postural corrections, hot/cold applications, and electrotherapy help improve the patient's functional capacity and quality of life.
3. Interventional Pain Treatments: Rarely, interventional methods may be employed, especially in situations where growing bones exert pressure on nerves, leading to severe pain. These treatments may include nerve blocks or other pain management techniques.
4. Personalized Exercise Programs: Considering that affected bones may weaken, personalized exercise programs aimed at strengthening muscles, increasing flexibility, and improving balance are important. These programs aim to reduce the load on the bones while maximizing the support provided by muscles to the skeletal system.

* Important Note: Paget's disease of the breast is a completely different clinical condition from Paget's disease of bone and is a type of breast cancer. In this case, oncological surgery, including mastectomy (removal of the entire breast) depending on the extent of the disease, and other cancer treatments are applied.
