Patients arriving at the endoscopy unit after completing the appropriate fasting period are sedated and undergo endoscopy. During the endoscopy, the presence of conditions such as hiatal hernia, severe reflux esophagitis, or active stomach ulcers is carefully evaluated. Additionally, any cancerous lesions that may be incidentally detected during the endoscopy are meticulously investigated. If no issues are identified during this preliminary assessment, the gastric balloon placement procedure can be performed in the same session. The balloon placement typically takes 5 to 10 minutes. After the procedure, the patient is awakened. While the first 6 to 7 hours usually pass without problems, nausea complaints may begin thereafter. This condition is effectively managed with appropriate medical treatments and anti-nausea medications. The patient's nausea is generally fully controlled and returns to normal within a few days. However, a normal diet is not resumed immediately; a liquid diet is followed for the first 1 to 2 days, pureed foods are introduced from the 3rd day, and normal eating gradually commences at the end of the first week.
