There is no specific age limit for knee prosthesis surgery. In the past, prosthesis surgery was generally applied to patients above a certain age; however, today, due to advancements in prosthesis technologies and the increased ease of revision surgeries, this approach has changed. Prosthesis surgery is a comfort treatment aimed at improving the patient's quality of life. The decision for surgery is made based on comprehensive clinical evaluations, including the patient's complaints, physical examination findings, and radiological imaging. In younger patients, knee prostheses may be necessary due to specific conditions such as rheumatic diseases. However, a prosthesis is not applied in every case of cartilage wear. Knee prosthesis surgery is generally considered a last resort when other conservative treatment methods have not been successful. Whenever possible, prosthesis surgery should be considered as the final option.
