Radiation is considered a significant risk factor, especially for Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML). In Multiple Myeloma, chemicals such as agricultural pesticides and insecticides can be among the risk factors. In addition to radiation and chemical exposure, advanced age is also a significant risk factor for Multiple Myeloma, acute, and chronic leukemias. However, it should be noted that acute leukemias and some other hematological cancers can also be observed in young and middle-aged groups. Bone marrow cancers may be slightly more common in men compared to women. While direct genetic inheritance is not common in bone marrow cancers, a family history of bone marrow cancer can increase the risk. Especially for individuals with a family history of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) in close relatives, an annual blood count check is recommended.
