The PCT (Procalcitonin) test is performed in a hospital setting. A healthcare professional will collect a blood sample from a vein in the patient's arm using a needle. The blood is then drawn into a test tube. While the needle insertion may cause a brief, minor discomfort, no special preparation is required for the PCT test. The procedure is generally considered safe with minimal risks. As with any blood draw, there might be slight soreness or bruising at the puncture site, which typically resolves quickly.
