In the treatment of male infertility, medication is primarily used to correct hormonal disorders. Particularly in cases where hormones regulating sperm production are insufficient, replacing these hormones can successfully stimulate sperm production. In the condition known as hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, sperm can be obtained in the semen after a drug treatment that can last up to two years; thus, couples can conceive naturally or through assisted reproductive technologies like IVF.
