Merely avoiding alcohol consumption is not sufficient to protect liver health. While only 10-15% of cirrhosis cases in our country are associated with alcohol, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C infections remain the most common causes of cirrhosis. Furthermore, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which is increasingly prevalent, is also recognized as a significant risk factor for the development of cirrhosis. To maintain optimal liver health, it is critically important to adopt healthy eating habits, engage in regular physical activity to maintain an ideal body weight, and effectively manage hyperlipidemia and glucose metabolism disorders. This holistic approach is fundamental not only for liver health but also for overall well-being.
