Oral cancer is a type of cancer characterized by the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells anywhere in the mouth or on the lips. Early diagnosis of oral cancers is critically important for treatment success. Surgical intervention is the primary treatment modality for tumors in this region. Surgical excision should be performed with wide and safe surgical margins, and the surgical margin of the removed tissue must be supported by intraoperative frozen section pathological examination. In some cases, chemotherapy may be administered in addition to surgery. Neck dissection is generally a necessary step in the treatment of oral cancers, with the exception of those affecting the hard palate.
