Phototherapy is a treatment method that uses different wavelengths of ultraviolet (UV) light. This treatment harnesses the cell growth-suppressing, immune-modulating, and anti-inflammatory effects of UV rays. PUVA, broad and narrow-band UVB, and local PUVA are among the main methods of phototherapy. Phototherapy (including photochemotherapy) must be administered under the supervision of a dermatologist and by trained healthcare professionals. It is an effective and preferred treatment option, especially for skin conditions such as psoriasis and severe eczema.
