Elevated triglyceride levels can be attributed to various factors. Key causes include imbalanced and unhealthy dietary habits characterized by excessive consumption of carbohydrates, high sugar, processed foods, and high-fat items, leading to a greater energy intake than expended. Furthermore, obesity, the use of certain medications, a family history of high triglycerides, genetic predispositions, smoking and alcohol consumption, acute or chronic liver and kidney diseases, and thyroid dysfunctions can also contribute to increased triglyceride levels.
