An elevation of parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels above the reference range of 15-65 pg/mL is a significant clinical finding. While high PTH itself is not hypercalcemia, elevated PTH frequently leads to hypercalcemia, which is defined as abnormally high calcium levels in the blood. As one of PTH's primary roles is to regulate calcium balance, blood calcium levels tend to increase when PTH levels rise.
