Endometriosis is a hormone-dependent condition. With menopause, the production of estrogen and progesterone hormones from the ovaries ceases, and thus, the regression of endometriosis lesions is expected. The incidence of endometriosis in the postmenopausal period is below 5%. In most of these cases, there is a history of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) used to manage menopausal symptoms.
