Epididymitis frequently causes significant pain. To alleviate discomfort and promote healing, it is recommended to observe bed rest, elevate and support the testicles, apply cold compresses, and abstain from heavy lifting and sexual intercourse until the infection has fully resolved.
For individuals diagnosed with confirmed or suspected acute epididymitis caused by gonorrhea or chlamydia, it is imperative to notify all sexual partners from the 60-day period preceding symptom onset. These partners should be advised to seek evaluation, testing, and potential treatment.
If the last sexual contact occurred more than 60 days prior to symptom onset or diagnosis, the most recent sexual partner must still be evaluated and treated. All partners should be counseled to avoid sexual activity until both they and their sexual partners have completed treatment and their symptoms have improved.
