Cardiac aneurysms may not present with symptoms in most cases. However, dysfunction in the aneurysmal region can lead to heart failure over time. This condition, in turn, can cause symptoms such as persistent fatigue, shortness of breath, palpitations, and chest pain in patients. Furthermore, especially in patients not receiving anticoagulant therapy, blood clots that may form within the aneurysmal sac pose a significant risk. These clots can dislodge and lead to serious complications like stroke or embolism to other organs. In very rare cases, the rupture of an anevrysm is a critical, life-threatening situation requiring immediate medical intervention.
