There are four main types of premature ejaculation:
1. Lifelong Premature Ejaculation (Primary Premature Ejaculation): This type is a persistent premature ejaculation problem that begins with the onset of sexual activity and continues throughout a person's entire sexual life. Its general prevalence in the population ranges from 2.3% to 3.2%, with an average of 2.5% observed in Turkey.
2. Acquired Premature Ejaculation: This occurs in individuals who initially had normal ejaculation times but later developed premature ejaculation due to a specific problem or condition. The general prevalence of this type is between 3.9% and 4.8%, with an average rate of approximately 4% in Turkey.
3. Variable Premature Ejaculation: This is a condition where an individual experiences premature ejaculation at times and normal ejaculation at other times. It is the most commonly observed form of premature ejaculation, with a general prevalence of 8.5% to 11.4%. The average rate observed in Turkey is in the range of 8% to 8.5%.
4. Subjective Premature Ejaculation (Perceived Premature Ejaculation): In this case, the individual does not actually experience a physiological problem of premature ejaculation. However, they harbor anxiety or a perception of premature ejaculation due to cultural or psychological factors. Its general prevalence is between 5.1% and 6.4%, with an average of 5% observed in Turkey.
