Fabry disease is generally classified based on the age of symptom onset and is primarily divided into two types: Classic Type and Late-Onset Type. The symptoms of classic Fabry disease typically appear during childhood or adolescence. The most prominent symptom of this type is a painful burning sensation in the hands and feet (acroparesthesia), which can be noticed as early as 2 years of age. If left untreated, symptoms can worsen over time and lead to more serious complications. Individuals with late-onset Fabry disease generally do not develop symptoms until their 30s. The first indicators of this type usually manifest as organ involvement, such as kidney failure or heart disease.
