Prior to a hysterectomy, various examinations may be requested to assess the patient's general health condition. These typically include routine tests such as blood tests, urine tests, chest X-rays, and ECGs. Depending on the patient's specific circumstances, the physician may request additional laboratory or imaging tests. The night before the surgery, some patients may require bowel preparation (enema). Generally, unless there is a specific medical condition or a different instruction from the physician, an 8-hour fasting period before surgery is required.
