For the diagnosis of osteomalacia, blood and urine tests are primarily requested to determine vitamin D levels, which is one of the fundamental causes of the disease. In addition to blood tests, imaging tests such as X-rays are performed to evaluate bone structure and assess bone health. Furthermore, bone mineral density (BMD) scans may also be requested by the physician to assess the mineral content and density of the bones. In much rarer cases, a bone biopsy, which involves taking a sample of bone tissue, is among the methods utilized in the diagnosis of osteomalacia.
